Greg Barr is a talented Western Australian artist with intellectual disability. I work with Greg each week, supporting him to practice and promote his art and music, and also explore his Noongar culture.
My Key Roles
- Support Greg to create his artwork, including ensuring his own art studio
- Identify opportunities for Greg to exhibit and sell his artwork, as well as promote his professional visual arts practice
- Facilitate Greg’s participation in key Noongar cultural activities and events, including playing his didgeridoo
- Establish and maintain Greg’s relationships with arts and cultural communities
- Grant-writing
- Ongoing documentation Greg’s art and cultural practice, photographically as well as written records
- Establish and maintain of Greg’s Facebook page
Key Outcomes
- Greg exhibits his artwork in ~10 art awards and exhibition each year
- Greg held his first solo exhibition, ‘King of the Hearts,’ Moores Building Contemporary Art Gallery, Fremantle, July 2017, including selling 75% of his work
- Greg’s artwork featured on all of the marketing and promotional materials for the City of Fremantle’s NAIDOC Week July 2017
- Greg playing the didgeridoo as part of the Welcome to Country for key events, including to crowds of 300+:

- As We Are Art Award, Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, Perth, 9 November 2019

- Greg has maintained an ongoing art studio, including at prominent Perth art venues such as the Fremantle Arts Centre and Heathcote Cultural Centre, Applecross
- Greg is the recipient of multiple art awards, including multiple awards with the annual As We Are Art Award, and the ‘Highly Commended – Aboriginal Art’ in the City of Belmont Art and Photographic Award, 2015
